The first town on the Severn, located 10 miles from the source, Llanidloes has existed since the year 1280 AD. This small market town underwent a minor Industrial revolution in the 19th century when it became the centre of the Welsh flannel industry and lead mining.

Today with a population of 3,000 the town enjoys the peace and tranquility that is so rare in modern Britain. You can browse around the Saturday Street Market, get a good read from the bookshop in Great Oak Street, buy flowers for that special occasion or just buy food for that meal to be enjoyed with a fine glass of wine.
