For its time this was a remarkable feat of engineering, to build a bridge across one of the most dangerous rivers in the world. On the 8th September 1966 the bridge was officially opened by HM Queen Elizabeth II.

THE PRINCE OF WALES BRIDGE (previously the S.S.C.)

Built: 1996

Engineers: John Laing & GTM Entrepose

The bridge spans 456 metres, making it Britain’s longest river crossing, a £330,000,000 viaduct on one hundred legs. It was officially opened by HRH Charles, Prince of Wales on the 5th June 1996.
